Young property professional qualifies as Chartered Surveyor
Jenny Hyland of the Savills South Coast Development team has attained the “gold standard” of professionalism in land, property and construction by qualifying as Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Jenny (23) grew up locally on the Isle of Wight and attained a First Class Honours Degree in BSc Environmental Planning at Queens University, Belfast. Following this she joined the Savills South Coast Development Team, based in Southampton, on their Summer Placement Scheme and then progressed onto the Graduate Scheme, where she gained relevant experience in Planning and Development to become Chartered. Gaining Chartered status requires two years of professional experience and successful completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
“I would recommend anyone considering a professional career in land, property or construction take a degree accredited by the RICS, and I highly recommend the opportunities offered by Savills for work experience, Summer Placements and the Graduate Scheme for undertaking the APC,” says Jenny. “It is an exciting time to be involved with property. I am looking forward to providing quality planning and development consultancy advice to assist with the delivery of new development and regeneration on the South Coast, as a Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor.”
The Savills South Coast Development Team comprises twelve local Chartered Surveyors, and recruits new members each year on to the Savills Graduate Scheme, while also offering opportunities for work experience on the Summer Placements scheme. The dedicated team provides a comprehensive range of development services to meet the needs of a wide range of clients, advising both the Private and Public Sectors, Plc’s, Charities and Trusts. Their four key work streams are namely; Development Consultancy, Agency, Valuation and Recoveries.

First-time buyer delighted with new home at Mayflower Mews
First-time buyer Joseph Llewellyn-Jones, who moved into an Ely house style at Mayflower Mews earlier this year, is a fan of both the design features of his home and the location. “I liked the nice big windows, solar panels and modern technology built into the house,” he explains. “The development is fairly small so it’s generally quiet and it’s well located for all the various amenities and travelling.” Mr Llewellyn-Jones would definitely recommend Lovell to anyone looking for a similar home. “The sales staff were very friendly and helpful and always available to get back to me quickly on any queries. Kevin, the site manager, has always gone out of his way to be helpful, prompt and resolve any defects quickly.
“They say buying a home is the most stressful time, but my experience has not been stressful. The whole process went smoothly and easily and I’m happy with the standard and the quality.”
Mayflower Mews is just under four miles from Southampton central train station and only three miles from the M27. As well as excellent transport links, the neighbourhood has green spaces too, including Mayfield Park and the Miller’s Pond nature reserve while Southampton city centre with its wealth of nightlife, restaurants and outstanding shops is only a short drive – just take the A3025 across the River Itchen.

Incentives for the rest of the year
Penyards Property Management has been based in Winchester for over 25 years and provides a pro-active and dynamic service to landlords and tenants alike.
Mike Turner, Associate Director with the company, confirms: “At Penyards Property Management, we haven’t forgotten that the reason we have become Winchester’s largest and most proficient lettings agent is by giving the very best customer service to all who come into contact with us, and by finding the very best tenants for our landlords’ properties.”
Mike continues: “If you are a landlord and have a property currently available to let, odds are that your current letting agent is telling you the market is slowing down and that new applicants are few and far between.
“However, whilst many letting agents are looking forward to Christmas, the team at Penyards Property Management are fully focused on working relentlessly all the way through November and December to agree lets on our clients’ investment properties.
“Just last week, we successfully let two properties for our landlords that had been with a competitor for several weeks. This excellent result comes down to a positive and professional attitude from the team based in Southgate Street. Couple this with the exciting landlord incentives we are offering new landlords moving to Penyards Property Management for the months of November and December and you could say the future looks very exciting!”

Super outlook from village house
The open aspect over fields and countryside at the rear of this extended family house is a delight at all times of year but particularly through the warmer months when the wide terrace and barbecue area draw the occupiers outside. The garden has been professionally designed and so is the perfect vantage point to enjoy the view.
The house has been extended from the original layout and now offers a choice of relaxing areas, all with oak flooring, including the original sitting room, and a new family room leading through to a garden room with south facing French doors to the terrace. There is also a study at the front of the house with fitted furniture and the kitchen is open plan to the dining room; a great place for all the family to gather at the end of the day. A utility room and cloakroom complete the layout on the ground floor.
Stairs from the hall rise to the first floor where there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
A driveway at the front of the property provides parking and although most of the garage has been converted to accommodation, there is access to useful storage. Shrub borders with box hedging line a path to the front door and the planting has matured well to provide an attractive backdrop.
Rowan Close sits on the eastern boundary of South Wonston which is an easy drive from Winchester and also has good local amenities including a primary school and shop.
Viewings may be arranged by calling Belgarum Estate Agents on 01962 844460. A price guide of £575,000 is quoted.…
