Opportunity for cottage lifestyle
Renting a home often provides an opportunity to explore a different lifestyle and here at Kimpton, a pretty village near Andover, April Cottage is just such a property.
Located in a quiet rural spot in the village, the cottage is, however, within a short drive of the centre of Andover where there are excellent shops and a mainline connection to Waterloo in just over an hour.
But April Cottage is really about the cottage itself, the lovely rural surroundings, and the wonderful character and lifestyle it suggests.
Beautifully presented, the thatched cottage is full of period charm with exposed beams and a lovely farmhouse style kitchen/breakfast room, complete with a range style oven, and with doors to a small courtyard leading to the garden. The sitting room has a wood burning stove to keep things cosy at this time of year and there is a separate dining room. Both these reception rooms have fabulous beamed ceilings. A rear lobby has doors to a shower room and a utility room.
The first floor is split into two sections, with two bedrooms and the family bathroom in one half and two larger bedrooms in the other accessed via a second staircase.
Outside is a beautifully maintained private garden laid mainly to lawn and includes a range of mature shrubs and plants amongst other features. The driveway has plenty of parking and access to a single garage.
The agent quotes a monthly rent of £1,695 on an unfurnished basis and says that the cottage could be available at short notice. Contact Hamptons International in Winchester on 01962 853046 for more details.…

Spacious village house with exceptional Candover Valley views
Hamptons International is bringing to the market a very spacious house, full of character and standing in a highly sought after Upper Wield village location with unrivalled sweeping views over the Candover Valley.
The feeling of space is immediate, with a large central galleried reception hall with exposed beams demonstrating the 17th century origins. The generous living accommodation includes a large double aspect reception room with a spectacular view, French doors opening out to the garden and a fireplace with a wood burning stove.
The rest of the living accommodation is very flexible and includes two family rooms which could be used as a sitting room and study or children’s play room, complemented by a large and airy kitchen with an Aga and breakfast room. There is also a laundry room and a large storage cupboard also provides access to a cellar.

Make tracks to a fantastic hideaway
Make tracks to a fantastic hideaway
Homebuyers yearning to make tracks into the deeper countryside would do well to take to the lanes around Hambledon.
Even with diligent searching, they will need some skills to find Pitt Hill House which was built to an individual design on a triangular plot just where a sign saying “Unsuitable for Motors” suggests taking a different route.
But persevere for just a few more yards and the house will reveal itself, standing proud in its attractive and manicured gardens that form part of more than three acres of grounds.
There are paddocks that need rejuvenating, as does the outdoor swimming pool, but the end result will be a haven in an extremely small community which remains hidden yet within easy reach of Hambledon and Denmead, both with village facilities, as well as Waterlooville with its major shops and access to the A3(M).
But who wants to think about getting away when it’s so tempting to stay put? The house has fantastic views and its layout is oriented to make the most of natural light with the principal rooms facing south, as do all four bedrooms.
If this makes sense, the front door is at the back so the living space is uninterrupted by the entrance hall. Such an arrangement left the architect free to place the kitchen, dining, and drawing rooms where they could be best enjoyed, the latter with a large south-facing bay window and west-facing sliding patio doors. There are similar doors in the sitting room, opening onto the terrace to complete the house’s west side story.
Stairs from the rear lobby descend to the double garage, with a wine cellar to one side, while the first and second floors are each home to two bedrooms. The master has a luxury en-suite……
